The ‘driving force’ behind the sacking of Wilfried Nancy at Celtic has been revealed.
Nancy was let go after only 33 days as manager, following six losses out of eight games, including a defeat to rivals Rangers.
Amid mounting pressure, Michael Nicholson, Celtic’s chief executive, played a key part in the decision to part ways with Nancy.
Mark Guidi disclosed on Go Radio that Nicholson was “the driving force for change”.
He further mentioned Nicholson’s determination to approach Dermot Desmond, saying: “We need to do something. This cannot go on.”
The chief executive had previously faced significant criticism but now receives recognition for his decisive action.
This change in leadership resulted in Martin O’Neill, a familiar face at the club, stepping in as manager until the season’s end.
Celtic are six points behind league leaders Hearts.
Rangers are three points ahead after their win against Aberdeen on Tuesday night, albeit they have now played an extra game.
Mark Guidi said: “Michael Nicholson, I think, deserves credit where it’s due for putting that on.”
