A Police Scotland spokesperson has said, as per The Sun (see the aftermath of the crash below): “Around 1.25am on Sunday, 4 January, 2026, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash on West Graham Street, Glasgow.
“There were no injuries reported. The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. He’s expected to appear at court at a later date.”
As described by the tabloid newspaper, images obtained by them show that the car Sterling was driving had smashed into pavement barriers on a section of the road that sat above the M8 motorway. It then came to a crushing halt after crashing into the railings of the road bridge, only narrowly missing a tree.
The airbags in the car had all burst, the bonnet was hanging off, and the rear of the motor was suspended in the air up against one of the roadside barriers. Temporary pedestrian barriers have also since been erected to replace what the car destroyed.
Sterling’s Career So Far
Sterling started his career working his way through the Chelsea academy, but after loan spells at Coventry City, Wigan Athletic, Blackpool, and Stoke City following the signing of his first professional contract in 2017, he never made more than two appearances for the Premier League side.
Instead, his big break came with a move to Rangers in 2023, where he has since made 75 appearances, scoring once and providing four assists from right-back. He has also featured at youth level for England, most notably making 25 appearances for the under-19s.
