Celtic join Rangers in the race to sign Denmark U21 midfielder, report claims

Celtic are in the race to sign a Denmark U21 midfielder alongside Rangers, according to a report.

With Wilfried Nancy and Paul Tisdale gone, the Hoops are now focusing on equipping Martin O’Neill with a squad capable of winning the Scottish Premiership.
Julian Araujo is already in the door, having been signed by Nancy. Celtic are also reportedly close to landing Jocelin Ta Bi.

But they aren’t done there, with several obvious gaps still in the squad. O’Neill has stressed the importance of signing players quickly.

And now, they are reportedly facing off with Rangers to strengthen in the middle of the park.
Celtic and Rangers in the race for Silas Andersen
TeamTALK are reporting that Celtic and Rangers are both in the race to sign BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen.

The 21-year-old only moved to the Swedish club this time last year, but he has since been one of the standout players in the country.

Rangers have reportedly initiated talks for the Dane, with Celtic ‘lurking in the wings’ at the same time. He has previously been of interest to Arsenal.

Andersen, a defensive midfielder, is a former Inter Milan youngster, joining their Primavera side from Copenhagen in 2021.
He spent two years in Milan before moving to Utrecht, where he mostly played for the club’s youth side in the second tier.

However, since joining Hacken, he has acclimatised brilliantly to men’s football. A powerful runner with the ball, he made his debut for Denmark’s U21s in September.

Celtic fans have often bemoaned a lack of protection for Callum McGregor in their midfield, and Andersen would add a bit of height to that area of the park.

But for now, he seems more likely to move to Ibrox, with Celtic yet to open talks with BK Hacken, who took Elena Sadiku for their Women’s team last month.
