Kyogo to Celtic transfer latest as striker told it’s a no brainer with just one question left to ask

Celtic have made their move for the former hitman and the ball is in his court as he weight up opportunity of Parkhead comeback.

Celtic are edging closer to convincing Kyogo to make a blockbuster comeback at Parkhead.
The Hoops want the 30 year-old to return for the Premiership push and Birmingham City won’t stand in his way. Record Sport understands the decision lies with the Japan ace as he weighs up his next move – and he is warming to the move.

Kyogo is on a bumper contract at Birmingham until 2028 but has failed to catch fire in the Midlands. City are willing to listen to offers and Celts are offering a short-term escape. Kyogo has spent the last 24 hours assessing his options but has been told Celtic cannot afford to wait – with returning boss Martin O’Neill desperate to add firepower immediately.

Celts have other leads but see Kyogo as a quick-fire low risk move, despite the attacker suffering a miserable 12 months since he left Parkhead. The Japan cap has scored just one goal for Birmingham this season – in the League Cup – following a miserable six months at Rennes on the back of his £10m Hoops exit.

Celtic legend Chris Sutton insisted he’d take Kyogo back in a heartbeat and it’s the ideal opportunity for the striker to get back on track. He said: “It’s a no brainer. I know he’s not had the best of times at Birmingham, and it was a poor spell for him at Rennes as well.
