A week ago, Celtic parted ways with Wilfried Nancy and appointed Martin O’Neill as their manager until the end of this season.
All of a sudden, life at Celtic Park became much calmer. Nancy’s brief period in charge had been absolute chaos and saw fans boil over, especially after defeat to Rangers.
O’Neill typically brought some normality back, with a routine 4-0 victory over Dundee United on Saturday. Yang Hyun-jun, Arne Engels, Benjamin Nygren and Daizen Maeda scored for Celtic as the manager’s return went just as planned.
Celtic won’t have given up on the battle for the Scottish Premiership, and have been working on January additions. One of those is Hapoel Petah Tikva’s Jocelin Ta Bi.
On January 6th, Foot Mercato reported the winger was on his way to join Celtic in the winter market. They also stated the Scottish club’s staff had travelled to Israel to carry out his medical tests. Journalist Sébastien Denis covered the report for the French outlet.
O’Neill’s side are yet to complete this operation, meanwhile, they have made a loan offer to FC Nantes’ Mohamed Bamba. Denis now took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an important update on Ta Bi.
Celtic transfer sees twist, and direction PL
Denis claims there’s been a ‘huge twist’ in the deal to take Ta Bi to Celtic this month. At one point, ‘everything seemed settled’ for the Scottish club to sign him.
According to the journalist, the Ivorian is unlikely to join Celtic this month. Instead, the 20-year-old will move to England. An unnamed Premier League side are set to quickly swoop in for him, but the details aren’t mentioned by Denis.
The latest claims from Scotland have stated Celtic have pulled the plug due to a medical issue. That hasn’t yet been backed up, and there’s likely more to come on this one.
